While paper straws are frequently regarded as much better for the environment, this is not necessarily true. Although paper straws eventually biodegrade, they are not a completely green alternative to plastic straws. The energy required to produce paper straws is greater than the energy used to produce plastic straws, making them much more harmful than many may believe. An alternative to both of these products could be reusable straws, edible straws, or avoiding straw usage all together.

Edible cutlery decreases reliance on single-use plastic cutlery. Eating your utensil after usage decreases trash and overall waste. The edible cutlery also requires less energy to produce, making them a more sustainable option to its plastic counterparts. Edible cutlery is safe for consumption, eliminating the threat of chemical exposure as seen with plastic cutlery usage. Opting into using edible cutlery does not mean forgoing the sturdy nature of plastic cutlery. Edible cutlery is both strong and usable with all kinds of foods and temperatures.
